Description
ROD is an all-in-one, dual-camera optical extensometer designed specifically for tensile testing of reinforcing steel bars (rebar). Its extended field of view enables non-contact strain measurement on longer specimens and in applications involving large elongations.
Rebar surfaces can change during testing as oxide scale or rust flakes off, making optical tracking challenging. Alongside the standard AX module, ROD includes the Intelligent Tensile Testing (ITT) module in X-Sight Alpha DIC software. Its dedicated ROD Line tool compensates for surface layer detachment and includes axial neck detection, supporting reliable strain measurement throughout the test.
ROD enables simultaneous measurements at multiple positions and with different gauge lengths, with real-time data transfer to the testing machine for an efficient testing workflow.
